It is one of the main plagues of the vineyard and the vine, widespread in most of the wine-growing regions of the Iberian Peninsula and other areas of wine importance, such as California or Chile.
The main damage is caused by the larva, which attacks the fruit and favors the entry of certain fungi such as Botrytis, which causes bunch rot.
The treatments are aimed at attacking the larvae before they penetrate the fruit.
It has three generations per year, between the end of March and the end of August.
The monitoring of the pest by means of pheromones is key in the decision of the appropriate moment of treatment with authorized products.
The control of this pest by techniques of sexual confusion with pheromones is very effective and is a recommended method in organic farming.
Place the traps in the upper third of the crop. Place a pheromone capsule in each trap.
Place 2 traps per plot. In crops larger than 3-4 Ha, place 1 trap / Ha. Preferably we will place one in the center of the crop and another in the boundaries.
Tolerance levels: depending on the area. In general it is considered that it should be treated from the capture of 1-3 adults / trap / day.
Place 5-10 traps per hectare, inside the plot and on the edges of it.
Reinforce the areas where the catches are higher with additional traps.
