DESCRIPTION: Agrotis exclamationis (moth, heart and dart) monitoring capsules

The females deposit yellowish white eggs on the nutritional plants. The larvae are light ocher mottled white, with two brown marks that cross over the head. The dorsal and lateral bands are mottled with brown.

It usually presents a unique generation, although there may be two in warm areas. They winter in the form of a caterpillar, which crisalidate in April, in an earthy cell under the ground. Adults emerge after two weeks.

This butterflyWindow new has the front wings ochraceous or light brown, with a dark brown orbicular spot, another reniform spot entirely in dark brown; the antemedian line is dark brown and shows a large and well marked claviform spot. The subterminal line is dark.

The hind wings are white or very light ocher, sometimes with the dark terminal line.

The prothorax shows a black collar. The thorax and abdomen are light brown. The antennas of the male are bipectinate, while those of the female are filiform.

The wing span varies from 30 to 45 millimeters.
