When should Aphilin be used?
Use Aphilin for the biological control of the potato aphid Macrosiphum euphorbiae and that of the greenhouse potato Aulacorthum solani. As a side effect, Aphilin also works against Myzus persicae.
How does Aphilin work?
Adult female wasps parasitize aphids. They also feed on the host. The parasitized aphids are transformed into black leathery mummies. The adult parasitic wasp emerges through a hole with jagged edges on the back of the mummy. The first mummies are observed in the culture about 2 weeks after the first introduction.
Application of Aphilin
Release mummies near infested plants, since Aphelinus abdominalis is not very mobile
Spread the material on stone wool blocks or in application boxes (Dibox)
Make sure the material remains dry and in its place of introduction for a few days.
